Books, Booths, and Voices

Hey everyone, Robb here.

I wanted to do a quick update from behind the scenes, because this summer has started off busy in the best possible way.

I’ve had book signings, convention prep, and a couple of events stacked close together, which has been exciting, exhausting, and occasionally a reminder that being an indie author means becoming your own marketing department, logistics coordinator, sales team, tech support, and unpaid intern.

Actually, “unpaid” is generous. This is the second job where I pay to show up.

But it has also been a good season for the books. The Stellar Reach universe continues to grow, and I’m excited to share that Kevin Thuro is back to work narrating Aurorae. At the same time, Kathleen Rooks is getting started as the voice of Seana Byrne for the Seana Byrne Series, beginning with Shadow of Light.

Working with narrators is one of those things I don’t think a lot of readers see from the outside. It is not just “send book, receive audiobook.” It is a creative partnership. There are pronunciations, character voices, tone, pacing, emotional beats, production timelines, revisions, and a lot of trust involved. When it works, though, it adds an entirely new dimension to the story.

So that is where things are right now: books on tables, books at cons, books being narrated, and me somewhere in the middle trying to keep all the plates spinning without accidentally launching one into orbit.

Thanks, as always, for reading, listening, sharing, showing up, and helping these stories find their way into the world.

More soon from The Signal.
